Today was another great day at the candy store! A man came in from a local radio station and talked with us about advertising for the candy store. We met with him for about an hour or two and talked about the package for the school year and what it included. This is where I learned a whole lot about marketing and a way to get the products out to a higher demographic. so, I thought about some of the things that I learned in school and it was very beneficial to see it first hand in the job world. I also made a package of sweets for the company and learned some things about radio spots and how to use a product placement with a radio spot. At the end of the day I took pics of the products I made that will be sent to the radio station and also made a radio press release for the radio stations in the future that had the general information about the candy store.

Today was a very busy day At the Candy Store. We went over the new products for the year and I started typing out a media fact sheet for the different items for the year, target audiences, and what ideas and outposts should there be the reach the personal persona for each product. I also was able to try some one the new products as I have posted pictures of them to this blog. I will create a press release for these two new products, the chocolate covered oranges and the multicolored lollypops that will be featured in July. After doing all this I will come up with the actual marketing products to reach the target audience and then hopefully calculate the evaluations to see how the campaign and advertising went.

Today I came in and had to edit some of the photos for the web page that needed to be cropped more. I also contacted some of the businesses that buys from the company wholesale and let them know about the web site. I worked on the web site some: getting the flow of the web site looking uniform and also editing the HTMLs and also working on the marketing aspects to the web site. I also looked at some other candy web sites to try and learn some things about developing a web site with a cart. It was pretty interesting to learn about web sites and really hard to talk with certain companies as I have not learned but a small amount about the candy world. It was a pretty good day though as I learned allot of things about online based business. The picture in this blog is one that I took of the caramels in the candy store.

Today I took new pictures of the new summer products for the store and uploaded them to edit. I also helped in the store and started writing a new press release for all the new products that are being introduced. I also helped the company continue to branch out its recognition by contacting some schools in the areas and letting them know about the candy store and all the info about it. It was interesting to learn how many schools are interested in allergen free companies now that more and more children have food allergies. This picture in the blog was some fresh all natural gluten free marshmallows and they were delicious. I learned how they are made and what all goes into making the candy without the other ingredients and it is complicated. I think I learned today that this candy is more expensive but the true quality is what makes the few more dollars worth it and I have grown a positive attitude working for a company that contributed in such a positive way.

Today I came in to a very busy store as there were many people picking up there candies for the 4th of July weekend. Needless to say, there was allot to do in the store marketing wise I printed out a list of marketing strategies and wrote up a bulleted list of ideas from customers.





So, today was pretty much a customer day where I listened to feedback from the customer and came up with some improvements the store could make.

Today was another filing day. I was helping my supervisor go through all the files for the store which was very time consumer because each article and document for the store had to be sorted and also typed up in the proper format just incase they needed to be used in the future. We did this all day pretty much and I was able to work on my internet skills and also learning how to type and format certain types of works like a spread sheet, bullet sheets for certain information, grouped many press releases, and also learned how to edit some things to make them more precise and to the point. (wordy things in PR are not very productive. I learned that today along with many useful tips for creating documents.

Today was a huge organization day.I was in charge of getting all the products written down and make a flow sheet with all the details of the products to be put on the website. This took pretty much all day as I had to type in all the info about the candy on each individual peace of candy and make sure they had the right ingredients in them so people could know what candy had what in them. This was a very big step in finalizing the web site.

Today was also a great day at Indie candy. We talked about product placement marketing for products and the personal personas and who the candy was targeted towards on a more personal level. The whole day today I was looking at websites and getting contacts and ideas for different candy ideas and how to make the candy appealing to certain people. I learned about researching and how to research on a more specific and detailed level and also learned about many good websites to look certain things on. It was and interesting time researching even-though I learned that it does take a really long time. I also worked on logos for the company.

Today I came into the store and started uploading the photos to edit them and crop them for the web site. This took a while As I needed to make sure Hanson, my supervisor liked each one that I picked. After doing that I took a brake and went into the kitchen to learn some interesting things about the candies they were making and what all went into the production part of the company. As a person writing about the products Hanson thought it was very important for me to learn about what I was writing press releases about and really learning about the food and how it is prepared... I also tried many of the sweets so I could later upload comments and news on the Indie candy blog on Facebook.

Today I came in and had a project to do. My project was to take photos of the products in the store, upload them, edit them, and put them on the web site using the Web page Volusion.

It was really interesting taking pictures of the products because they were what the press releases were about and it was fun to use some of my skills form photography class I took. Today I only got to take the pictures and upload them to my computer as there were about 500 pictures I took of all the products. It was fun and I also posted some of my favorites to my blog that look particularly good for marketing and other press realeases and brochures. These pictures will also be used on these products that I will make for the company all throughout July.

Today At my internship I started calling different PR newswire firms and getting qotes on the annual amounts for there services on putting out press releases. I also started looking at the web site and also looking at the facebook page for Indie Candy and researched some other candy stores to see what kinds of things could be added to the web site or facebok page. I also went over the press release with Hanson, the president/ CEO and turned in the final copy after editing it. The last things I did was fill out an application for the PR Newswire and also looked at a few settings for the press releases.

Today was my first day at my internship at indie candy. This was my first day so I got a run down on all the products at the store and was introduced to my projects which was to start a press release for the new product cotton candy. I was supposed to also research the web page and write a press release about the store and the new additions. I also set up a gmail account for the store and wrote several emails to sister companies.
